"Oh, praise the Lord,"
The Psalmist cries.
"For his mercy endures…
Forever."
"Why praise the Lord?"
The pained soul cries.
"For his mercy has abandoned me…
Forever."
Elohim, Adoni.
Oh Lord God!
Why do you abandon your children?
When they cry out to you,
Why do you turn your head?
Elohim, Adoni
Their hearts are breaking
The soul is aching
And they plead for peace,
For strength…
But they receive none.
Elohim, Adoni
Where have you gone?
If you honestly cared,
Why do you let us hurt?
If you are trying to heal us,
Why do our hearts break so?
"Praise to the Lord…
For his mercy endures forever."
Forever?
We wish for the present.
Not for forever,
But for right now.
We wish for your mercy, Elohim.
The battle rages on
We, the soldiers, plunder on
But we have no hope,
No peace of mind.
We are leaderless.
We are broken.
We are hostile.
And we are lost.
So give praise to the lord.
Praise his holy name.
Those of you who hurt.
Those of you who are lost.
Those of you who lost hope.
Those of you who need Elohim.
Praise his name.
The darkness is all around,
And we are expected to praise.
Praise?
How can we praise a God
Who has left us alone?
How can we trust a God
Who has betrayed us?
The darkness is all we know
Elohim, Adoni.
We cry out.
Like a babe who cries for his mother,
We cry out to you.
We need you.
The darkness has embraced us
But we need the light.
The demons have surrounded us,
But we need the light.
We need you,
Elohim, Adoni.
For we are lost in the desert
Of sin and despair.
And we cannot escape on our own.
