Unmentionables

There are ... things, I suppose, that people do to themselves that I've never quite understood.  Getting so plastered you can't remember your own name is a huge one.  I've been drunk twice.  The first time was awesome.  It took 8 shots over about an hour, hour and a half to get me to where I was floaty and buzzy and completely numb emotionally.  Fan-bloody-tastic.  Also, I apparently waxed poetic on the awesomeness that is the female boob.  Specifically mine, I hear.  facepalm

The second time was so far from awesome I'm pretty sure it went into the negatives.  In an attempt to reach the wonderful feeling I had accomplished two nights previous, I decided to go for broke:  12 shots in about an hour.  Twelve.  In just over an hour.  Twelve.  Yeah.  I went from sober to slightly buzzed to nice and floaty in about 10 minutes.  Sweet.  And then at minute eleven, I hit the "so fucking dizzy I want to puke, pass out, and DIE" phase.  I spent the next hour puking every 5-10 minutes as my stomach churned while my head spun violently in loopty-loops and corkscrews.  Once my stomach finally settled down, I promptly passed out in the giant chair in our living room while watching who knows what on TV, my body unwilling to attempt the walk upstairs.

I also have no idea why on earth someone would smoke.  Anything.  Cigs or weed.  I should be ashamed to admit this, but I have tried the green stuff before.  Burned in my poor lungs like fucking hell.  Never.  Again.  Even if my brain did slow down enough for me to actually be able to process most of what goes on inside my head, it ain't worth it.  I already have breathing issues due to a chronic bronchial cough, and I spent the next two days coughing up shit trying to be able to breath properly again.  So, it was very not worth it.  Seriously, anyone who is concerned about my well-being right now, I am not doing it again.  Ever.

I'm going to simply enjoy my one social drink, pretend that cigarette smoke doesn't bother me, and attempt to obtain a blissful ignorance that there is no such thing as weed or drugs.  I blame the environment in which I was raised.  If the Adventist schools would actually teach their kids about what this shit was, most of us wouldn't be so damned curious to try the "forbidden fruits" ourselves just to say "ha, take that you old fuddy duddy!".

Turning Over a New Leaf

After failing to motivate myself with a tracker on my smart phone, after years of sitting on my ass wishing I wasn't so fat, having absolutely no self-control with the food I eat, after two months of being part of a private group on facebook with a small group of girl friends, and watching Gina and then Aprille zoom ahead with success while I suffered with my lack in motivation, I found an interesting picture of a weight loss board on Pinterest.  Can't find the picture now, but that doesn't really matter since I have made my own!

The picture you see here is what I have dubbed my Wall of Motivation.  What these four cork boards contain are part of what I hope will be my key to success in losing weight, exercising, and eating right, (the other part being my friends Gina and Aprille).  I positioned the board in an optimal location:  over my computer monitors. Anyone who knows me at all, this is a prime location as I am ALWAYS on my computer.

On the top left corner contain three ribbons, as you can probably see.  Each of those little clips represents a pound I want to lose this goal set, 50 total.  The date I started this weight loss challenge was the beginning of the month, and I posted it so I'd always have that reminder of where I started.  I took some "before" pictures and will eventually print those out and post them, but I don't want anyone to see them.  Barf.   My current weight and where I hope to end up are nestled in between the two ribbons that will hold my pounds lost clips.

The bottom left corner is where I post my Challenge of the month, March being the failed attempt at Fab Ab Feb.  I have a list of stretches that I use either before or after my 10 minute video work outs, and after I do any cardio like walking or running.  There is another list of stretches that when done in a certain order are supposed to help with calming the mind, boosting energy levels, relieving PMS, and aiding digestion.  Not sure if I really believe that having 10 stretches and doing them in a certain order will really affect these four things, but I figure it doesn't hurt to try.  There is also a stretch regime called Sun Salutation which is meant to be utilized in the morning after you wake up.  I keep forgetting about the stretch, but hopefully I'll start remembering.

The top right corner contains my schedule of my basic, minimal workout.  The workout that no matter how I'm feeling, I will at least accomplish that even if I don't do the challenge, or run my required day.  Speaking of running, I found a running schedule for beginners to help train you to be able to run without walking.  There are also three awesome workouts I found that target legs, over all body, and one that is called the Pi Workout.  3 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of rest, 4 minutes of strength.  3.14.  Pi.  /grin

The final board is really my encouragement board.  My monthly goals are written out, the things I need to accomplish that month.  For March, taking care of my student loans, doing my taxes, and visiting friends at least one night a week are on my list.  There are some motivating quotes and the 10 Commandments of Weight Loss.  And I also have a section for something fun, which is a monthly challenge that has absolutely nothing to do with weight loss or exercise.  For this month of March, I found a photography challenge floating about the internet and decided it would be fun to do and add to my Wall of Motivation.

I really hope this board, along with Aprille, Gina, and my healthy competition between the three of us, will help keep me motivated for longer than these past three days.  Gina and I are going to go shoe shopping tomorrow so I can start my running schedule and she's volunteered to run with me at the pace I need to start at!  I have amazing friends.  =D

Spontaneity

I was talking earlier today with my dear friend Aprille about being more spontanious.   I've missed being random, and I'm so done with letting my irrational fears drag me down.  So I've compiled a list to sort of assist myself in the road to myself.

1.  Mismatched socks.  Yes.  Little Miss Can't-wear-different-socks is going to buy socks that are purposely mismatched. The horrors!
2.  More upbeat, classical music videos with awesome, spontanious-looking dancing.  Lindsey Stirling, folks.  She is totally kick ass.  You know, to help remind me why I want to learn to dance.  Which brings me to....
3.  Learn to dance!  I believe the skill of dancing helps provide an outlet for those random explosions of spontaneity that bubble up from your soul.
4.  Dye my hair purple.  Or pink.  Or blue.  Something random.
5.  Um.  Well.  Let's see.   I'm sure I'll think of more later...

Car Repair Adventures Part 2

On Monday, I finally called Williamson Honda and asked some questions about availability for repair and if they could recommend a tow service.  The woman on the other end was very kind and helpful, encouraging me to get my car in as soon as possible via a tow service number she provided and that they would get to my car as soon as the other prior appointments out of the way.

Unfortunately they were unable to get to my car until around noon today.  Nate, the service guy in charge of my car, told me that my car had started no problem and they were able to pull it into the service bay without issue.  That made me a little irritated that I had spent over a week trying to get this thing to start, and they had no issue.  Sigh.

Anyway, Nate called me around 3:30 this afternoon to inform me that after the initial start of the car to pull it into the bay, they were unable to get the car to start again.  He then said that it was the ignition that had gone bad.  The total cost of the diagnosis, part, and labor?  $370, give or take a couple bucks.

Yeah, I'll take that over searching Craigslist for another car.

This was the only picture I could find in my cars color.  Yes, the guy actually  "slammed the back".  Wtf?

Car Repair Adventures

Being a non-girly girl, one might expect that I would be well-versed in the more butch things of life, such as mowing lawns, repairing sinks, and car repair.  Sadly, I am in the geeky venue of the tomboy genre of females and ergo know more about repairing computers, playing computer games, and downloading media than I ever will about mowing, sinks, and cars.

Adventures with Stephen

Today Stephen Scheffler dropped a bookcase/drawer combo on my head.
