Anxious

Thoughts are swirling
Feelings twirling
Stomach churning
Heart is yearning

Children

It is the wide-eyed wonderment
of things not experienced before
Of adventures and journeys
Of imagination and beyond

It is the innocent laughter
following jokes and pranks
Playing with friends and siblings
Their made-up elaborate games

It is the open heart of innocence
of things they don't understand
Of acceptance and love
Of similarities and differences

It is the tears running down cheeks
and the concept of unfairness
Of righteous indignation
The desire to protect the weak

Guild Wars 2 - a Limerick

There once was a lady named Kate
Who didn't have much on her plate
"I shan't be excused
this weekend" she mused
"this beta would be more than great!"

Lamest limerick I've ever written.  Ever.  But oh well.  Continuing with gw2 beta weekend!

Lincoln Drivers - a Haiku

"Broken" turn signal
Four extra going through red
I fear for my life

For my friend, Gina, who hates Nebraska drivers more than anyone I know.

Berries - a Haiku

the frozen berry
a bite of cold in my mouth
so tangy and sweet

The Book - a Haiku

Soft ancient pages
Musty, dusty scent of old
The tang of old ink

Tofu - A limerick

I once had some rancid tofu
That smelled like a dirty gym shoe
My mother complaint
with little constraint
"I'd rather eat bamboo with glue!"

Note:  Dedicated to Justin Gibson, who is not only an awesome person and the inspiration of this limerick, but is also someone whose blog you should totally visit.  Here, I'll give you a link: just g!bs

Black Night

The blackened dark chills the night
Hungry wolves are on the prowl
searching for a sporting fight
baying with an eerie howl

Colors of Emotions

Red is the color of passion and anger
From burning fury to smoldering love
A symbol of guilt, sin, lust, and love
Poppies for noble sacrifice, roses for flaming passion

Orange is the color of noble determination
From the fires of compassion to a cool optimism
A symbol of warning, falling leaves, and endurance
Roses for enthusiasm, pride, and warm passion

Yellow is the color of cheerful imagination
From hopeful optimism to cautious cowardice
A symbol of warmth, summer, friendship, and caution
Daffoldils bring bright sunshine, Roses for simple cheer

Green is the color of hope and envy
From hope and health to selfish greed
A symbol of youth, nature, prosperity, and sickness
Any flower for the communion with nature and health

Blue is the color of water and ice
From the cool of winter to noble royalty
A symbol of sadness, magic, trueness, and calm
Their flowers bring about a calming ambiance

Purple is the color of royalty and sharing
From upper class nobles to the passion of friendships
A symbol or wisdom, rage, sympathy, and sophistication
Most for dignity and pride, Roses for enchantment

The Dress - a Limerick

There once was a lady of yore
Who everyone loved to adore
Said a man late one night
It would be my delight
To see that dress on my floor

The Cat - a Limerick

There once was a kitty called Rat
All covered in fuzzy and fat
Her owners surmised
What would be her demise
Were the flees in her dirty old mat

Swirls of Grey

Brilliant blue slowly gives way to the white
The cotton of white that blankets darkens
Sky amass with swirls of dismal color
The white is marred with the masses of grey

The rain-heavy clouds darken to charcoal
Once light air becomes heavy with promise
There is a sweet smell that tickles the nose
A breathy whisper on the chilly breeze

Together

I want to dance together
Whirling, twirling, stumbling
With breathy laughter and
bodies held closely

I want to sing together
Boldly, quietly, tenderly
With rough harmony and
strong choruses

I want to laugh together
Hearty, boisterous, strong
With quiet giggles and
 from-the-gut guffaws

I want to cry together
Sobbing, sniffling, comforting
With fingers tender and
gently wiping tears

I want to live together
Better, worse, everything
With understanding and
unconditional love

Dancing in the Moonlight

She's spinning between constellations
It's in the graceful way she moves
The stars are caught in her eyes

He's waltzing between the galaxies
It's in the steady way he moves
The stars are caught in his eyes

They are dancing together through life
It's in the fluid way they move
The stars are caught in their eyes

Just Tell Me

Kiss me gently, my dear, near the old oak tree
Where the branches entwine and sunlight shines through
Speak the words, make it true, my dear, just tell me

Just tell me you love me, by the quiet sea
In a meadow, where wild flowers grow as if strewn
Kiss me gently, my dear, near the old oak tree

Hands gently intertwined, hear my heartfelt plea
Please stay by my side, where we'll enjoy the view
Speak the words, make it true, my dear, just tell me

Guard my heart, my love, for you hold the key
Come what may, dear heart, you're the one I look to
Kiss me gently, my dear, near the old oak tree

Admit your love and let the words set me free
Be kind to my heart, this is all fresh and new
Speak the words, make it true, my dear, just tell me

Hold me tenderly, oh so tight, so all can see
Press me close to you under the sky so blue
Kiss me gently, my dear, near the old oak tree
Speak the words, make it true, my dear, just tell me

Sweetheart I'd let you

Sweetheart, I'd let you
Use those names I abhor
Like darling and sweetie
Your love warms to my core

Sweetheart, I'd let you
Spend your money on flowers
From you they'd be welcome
You'll not see me glower

Sweetheart, I'd let you
Pull out chairs, open doors
For I know in my heart
My strength you adore

Sweetheart, I'd let you
Use a get out of jail free
For forgetting a birthday
But not for an anniversary

Sweetheart, I'd let you
Love me unconditionally
And from me in return
My love unequivocally

Roses are Red

Roses are red
Violets are blue
That's what I hear
but it just isn't true

Apples are red
Most tomatoes are too
Violets are violet
and blueberries are blue

Greenland's not green
and Iceland's not ice
A green thumb isn't green
but make flowers look nice

So while roses are red
and violets aren't blue
I provide you a challenge
One I'm sure you can't do

It's a simple task
I dare you to try it
but don't cry to me
if you can't rhyme with violet!

Tea with Monsters

The Worplesnapper called
and they all came running
Wanting to experience
A party of grandeur and frivolity

One by one
creature by creature
They came trickling in
Sitting carefully at a named plate

With a Cheshire smile
that belayed mischief and mayhem
the Worplesnapper spoke quietly
and all who heard shivered

His dark, cunning plan
it was later said by all who heard
was a dark omen for beastkind
and a death sentence for humankind

The Worplesnapper called
and they all went running
Wanting to experience
A party of grandeur and frivolity

Bug Man

There is a strange man
Who I've heard it said
Had an odd shaped head
With eyes a'spinning

More prone to silence
Deciding instead
To communicate
With those spinning eyes

Loud men would argue
Returning silent
Strong men would confront
Returning weak

Striding along streets
Fur-lined coat scraping
Scoping out his next
With eyes a'spinning

The Ride

Listen, my people, and you shall know
the midnight ride of the headless stow
Long shadows cast by a moon so bright
Melt seamless into the blackest night

The blood red eyes of the evil steed
Belayed his master's voluminous greed
These eyes that glowed and penetrating
Seen by a man, so deprecating

The sharp pounding of the blackened hooves
The piercing wail beckoned all to move
Flee in terror from rider and beast
Legend says your soul they're known to feast

Cower you must in hovel of wood
Leaving no sign of where you once stood
Protect your family with your life
Your lifestyle, your children, your wife

For the midnight ride of man and beast
That brings such terror from the Northeast
Ends only when hunger is sated
and the moon no longer inflated
